Rabat, Morocco
Often overlooked in favour of Marrakech, Morocco’s capital offers a
sophisticated yet more relaxed and affordable alternative to the country’s
busier destinations, blending rich heritage with modern infrastructure. Its
status as a UNESCO World Heritage city, combined with its coastal setting on
the Atlantic and balmy Mediterranean climate, make it an attractive place to
visit year-round. It also boasts beaches, historic monuments and cultural
landmarks aplenty.
When to go
Experiences
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November)
Rabat is a treasure trove of cultural
and historic experiences. Groups
can embark on a curated Rabat Heritage
Tour, sample authentic flavours on a guided food
and culture walk, or dive deep into history with a Chellah
archaeology experience. Must-see attractions include the
ancient Kasbah of the Udayas, the iconic Hassan Tower
and Mausoleum of Muhammad V, the serene Andalusian
Gardens, and the city’s medina — vibrant yet more relaxed
than those in Marrakech or Fez.
Where to stay
The Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr is housed
in a restored 18th-century royal summer palace, with
sweeping oceanfront views. The luxurious property
offers 200 rooms, and 1,000 sqm of meeting space in its
purpose-built event centre. The property boasts not one
but two ballrooms, including the impressive Royal Ballroom,
along with eight flexible function spaces and a variety of
garden areas. There’s also a choice of restaurants serving
refined Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine, and a spa
retreat fit for royalty.
